Meet the Team
As a Young girl I always loved animals and in 2000 I was finally given the opportunity to work with them. I started as a bather at a grooming shop in the Chicago suburbs. I would stay late to apprentice with the groomers at the shop and a few months later I was grooming fulltime. During this time I was introduced to the dog show world and instantly fell in love. I began to think of the dogs as little celebrities. I furthered my knowledge of dogs by working with a professional dog handler and traveling around the Midwest showing multiple breeds of dogs. In 2005 I was very excited to attend the Westminster dog show. Throughout my career I have worked in grooming shops, kennels, and a vet clinic. I enjoy working with dogs of all ages and sizes. strive to deliver a calm gentle approach to every dog. My husband and I are proud parents of a very diverse family of 5 dogs and one sassy cat. In my spare time I enjoy volunteering with our local K9 Korps dog 4-H club.
I am excited to meet your dogs! I have 30 years of showing, training and grooming experience. I got my start as a 4Her at
age 8 and now have 2 4-H kids of my own. I have owned and bred whippets since 1996, and currently have 3 whippets and one Spinone
italiano. I got my grooming and showing start with Shetland sheepdogs and greyhounds. I have experience in confirmation, obedience, and the rally ring. My favorite show memory was my trip to Westminster in NYC a few years ago. I have apprenticed under a longtime yorkie breeder, and groomer Corrine Boon and am forever grateful for their expertise. I have experience with wire coated maintenance as well. I truly love researching show grooms to help make your dog look like a champion at home.
I'm a groomer who has been in the animal industry for the past 14 years. Before entering grooming I have been a vet assistant, kennel technician, vet receptionist, and a doggy daycare and boarding manager. I work well with hard to handle and nervous dogs, and terriers hold a special place in my heart. While loving the medical aspect and fun of my previous careers I always it lacked something. Upon working alongside many groomers it hit me, this was it, this was the career for me. I am able to work with animals I love while putting my creative side to use. I have never looked back. I live here in Oak Harbor with my husband, our son, 2 dogs, and our fish. We will soon be adding a miniature schnauzer to the family that will become my grooming competition dog under handstripped terriers. Grooming is my passion but in my spare time I love to cook and bake.
I got my first dog and clipper when I was 12, I was a 4-H kid and they took me in and showed me how to use these tools. 19 years later I have found myself elbow deep making a career out of my passion for grooming dogs. When I graduated high school I went to work for a professional handler grooming dogs for him. I learned ho to hand strip wire coats, rehab bad coats, and all the finishing skills required to make my grooms the best they can be. I ran a mobile grooming business for 6 years until I went to work for a big company managing a grooming salon and teaching grooming as a mentor. My life is consumed by dogs, I have been breeding and showing Basset Hounds for 13 years and have had many show and field champions. I am excited to be working on Whidbey, giving back to the community I grew up in, and look forward to seeing you and your pups.
